The online Master's Degree Course in Economic Science aims to enable students to acquire advanced knowledge in the field of economic theory and its applications, with particular regard to income distribution, determination of prices, objectives and strategies of public intervention in Economics, as well as the analysis of economic policies in Europe. In addition to the deepening of the economic issues, this course also provides mathematical and statistical-econometric tools that meet the needs of both theoretical economic analysis and applied processing. This course in Economic Science trains graduates for academic and professional careers in diverse fields, including finance, government, business, and consulting, and is specifically aimed at those are interested in undertaking a career as a professional economist working for example within Government Economic Service or an economics consultancy.

The course seeks to deepen the analytical and critical skills relevant to economic development, in particular those needed to provides the rigorous quantitative training, helping students to develop the ability to access, process and understand a variety of data. A fundamental element of the course is the interaction between the educational objectives and the job market, with the aim of providing suitable theoretical and practical knowledge that can offer students different job opportunities, both in public and private economic sectors, in the national organisation's offices, in national and international research institutions, in public administration and in the context of free professions of economic nature, in particular:

  • the deepening of the central core of economic theory and quantitative analysis techniques
  • the development of skills in research fields that show the application possibilities of the tools acquired;
  • the creative use of economic methods and quantitative techniques specific to the various application sectors for the solution of economic and social problems.

Economists work as consultants, public policy analysts, financial managers, health insurance analysts and much more. One thing most of these career paths have in common, however, is the need for a master's degree to get your foot in the door and/or work your way through the ranks. Types of careers in economics that typically either require or benefit from a master’s degree include:

Students who wish to enrol in the Master’s Degree in Economic Science must hold a Bachelor’s Degree (180 ECTS, EQF level 6) in one of the following study areas:

  • Economics/ Economic and Business management Sciences;

or students who hold study qualification awarded abroad and officially recognised as equivalent.

Traineeship

Pegaso International's traineeships are integral part of the student academic curriculum, and are provided as practical activities of the academic record relevant to the completion of the study course. Traineeships may be mandatory or recognized as processes through which students may gain exemptions of credits. The number of credits gained for curricular traineeships is stated in the Standard Study Plans. Traineeship activities are officially recognised through the acknowledgement of credits (1 ECTS = 8 hours). Generally, the working hours are mutually agreed upon between the trainee and the host company, considering the current needs of both parties and the company working hours. Students may undertake the traineeship at any time of the year.

Students will be considered eligible for admission for a traineeship, upon the positive assessment of a minimum number of ECTS, with reference to:

  • three-year degree courses: 100 ECTS out of 180
  • master's degree courses: 50 ECTS out of 120
  • one-year master degree course in Informatics: 20 ECTS out of 90

Students are required to reach specific agreements with the host company and communicate the following data in writing to Pegaso International to the mail: traineeship@pegasointernational.eu

  1. Name of the Host company;
  2. Agreed time frame of the traineeship;
  3. Name and surname of the company tutor and relevant contact details (telephone and email);
  4. Educational objectives of the traineeship, agreed with the company tutor.

Upon completion of the traineeship, students are required to submit to the competent office the following documentation:

  • Application for recognition of the traineeship activities and relevant ECTS gained; download the form
  • Certificate of Traineeship undertaken, to be sent on letter head, signed and stamped by the company tutor; download the form
  • Brief report on the activity undertaken during the traineeship hours, signed and stamped by the company tutor.
