Tourism Sciences

The online Three-year Degree Course in Tourism Sciences aims to train individuals who are able to effectively work in companies and institutions relevant in the tourism industry, using at the same time the basic economic, legal, managerial, social and cultural instruments, useful for this purpose. In addition, this course training enables participants to communicate in foreign languages, both in written and oral form, and to learn basic computer skills.

To achieve the educational objectives described above and to foster the good placement of our graduates in the world of work, this degree program will enable the graduate to acquire basic knowledge in economic, business, legal, historical, geographical, anthropological and social disciplines, with particular attention to those most directly relevant in the tourism field. The course will also enable students to acquire an entrepreneurial spirit that may lead, if applicable, to the creation of new tourism businesses.

Standard Specialisation

The Degree Course aims to train graduates with high skills and adequate tools to operate in the tourism field, with specific reference to the enhancement of cultural tourism and sustainable tourism, which is a fundamental resource of the territory in which the Course is located to operate.

In particular, the course aims to transfer specific knowledge on the programming of tourism policies, understood as a factor of economic development and territorial competitiveness. Therefore, in addition to the acquisition of cultural competences on the resources available in the territory and of a management nature to be able to operate in a managerial perspective within companies and institutions, the course is characterized by the specific educational objective of providing those advanced skills designed to design and implement policies aimed at qualifying the tourist offer, with particular reference to the enhancement of cultural and environmental heritage, landscape and territorial values.

The competences that the Course intends to transfer are both of a technical nature (above all juridical-economic, but also with an attention to historical-artistic problems) and of a socio-political nature, since both prove to be necessary, in the current context, for the correct planning and profitable management of cultural intervention projects outlined above all by public administrations, as well as for the management of activities carried out in the private sector. In particular, the course aims to define the knowledge and skills necessary for:

  • knowing how to interpret and represent the tourist phenomena, the constraints and the opportunities offered by the territories in which the activities can be established, as well as the effects that the same activities have on economic, socio-cultural and natural environments;
  • acquire in-depth knowledge of the tourist context of the region in which they are destined to operate with particular reference to cultural goals, accommodation organization and the institutional and management structure of the territory;
  • knowing how to operate through the main IT and telematic tools used for the promotion of tourism activities, for the organization of trips and routes, for the organization of the territory on which these activities are based;
  • acquire the appropriate skills for the organization and management of scientific, cultural and sporting events and events both at local, national and international level;
  • possess adequate knowledge and tools for communication and information management, in the specific area of ??competence.

Sustainable Tourism Specialisation

The aim of the "Sustainable Tourism" program is to train a graduate figure able to understand the characteristics and dynamics of tourism demand-supply and to plan and manage administrative processes from an economic and organizational point of view, of companies and institutions operating in the sector, having specific attention to the requirement of sustainability. The graduate's basic education is ensured by the first year of the course, while the specific qualification takes place in the second and third years where the lessons related to the law and the organization of tourism businesses and market studies are accompanied by lessons related to the historical disciplines, environmental protection, languages ??and web marketing. In addition, students will be able to characterize their training path with the choice of optional courses of which the course offers a wide and diversified choice.

Standard specialisation

The Degree Program allows career opportunities in different areas, such as tourism, the organization of social activities compatible with the environment, tourism communication for the traditional publishing market, multimedia and in the press offices of institutions and companies in the sector.

  • Organizers of conferences and receptions
  • Tourist animators and assimilated
  • Guides and tour leaders

Sustainable Tourism Specialisation

Graduates in the "Sustainable Tourism" program will have the opportunity to find professional opportunities in administrations, institutions and companies that deal with the organization and management of tourism activities. They will also be able to work as professionals in the fields of dissemination and promotion of cultural events.

To access the Degree Course you must have a high school diploma or equivalent qualification obtained from recognized foreign institutions. The methods for verifying the knowledge required for access will be defined in the academic regulation of the course of study, in which the possible additional educational obligations will also be identified if the verification is not positive.

Traineeship

Pegaso International's traineeships are integral part of the student academic curriculum, and are provided as practical activities of the academic record relevant to the completion of the study course. Traineeships may be mandatory or recognized as processes through which students may gain exemptions of credits. The number of credits gained for curricular traineeships is stated in the Standard Study Plans. Traineeship activities are officially recognised through the acknowledgement of credits (1 ECTS = 8 hours). Generally, the working hours are mutually agreed upon between the trainee and the host company, considering the current needs of both parties and the company working hours. Students may undertake the traineeship at any time of the year.

Students will be considered eligible for admission for a traineeship, upon the positive assessment of a minimum number of ECTS, with reference to:

  • three-year degree courses: 100 ECTS out of 180
  • master's degree courses: 50 ECTS out of 120
  • one-year master degree course in Informatics: 20 ECTS out of 90

Students are required to reach specific agreements with the host company and communicate the following data in writing to Pegaso International to the mail: traineeship@pegasointernational.eu

  1. Name of the Host company;
  2. Agreed time frame of the traineeship;
  3. Name and surname of the company tutor and relevant contact details (telephone and email);
  4. Educational objectives of the traineeship, agreed with the company tutor.

Upon completion of the traineeship, students are required to submit to the competent office the following documentation:

  • Application for recognition of the traineeship activities and relevant ECTS gained; download the form
  • Certificate of Traineeship undertaken, to be sent on letter head, signed and stamped by the company tutor; download the form
  • Brief report on the activity undertaken during the traineeship hours, signed and stamped by the company tutor.
